While public universities face cuts, the state's 28 community colleges would get $296 million, an amount unchanged from this fiscal year, said Michael Hansen, president of the Michigan Community College Association. He viewed the continued support as recognition of the record enrollment at community colleges, and the role they are playing in helping laid-off workers reinvent themselves.
